About the MN ACNM
The Minnesota ACNM is the professional organization representing Certified Nurse-Midwives and Certified Midwives in the state of Minnesota.
We are an affiliate of The American College of Nurse Midwives
Our Mission
- For all individuals and families in MN to have access to safe, trauma-informed, anti-racist, and evidence-based reproductive healthcare that is based in mutual respect, individual needs, and shared-decision making
Our Vision
To advance the midwifery profession in Minnesota while positively impacting reproductive health outcomes by:
- Optimizing health and well-being for all women, birthing folks, and newborns within their families and communities
- Developing and supporting midwifery professionals including certified nurse-midwives, certified midwives, and current or future CM/CNM students
- Promoting collaboration and community between all settings of midwifery in Minnesota: home, birth center, and hospital based.
- Lobbying for reproductive justice and increased access to midwifery care
- Providing a safe space for all midwifery professionals through a commitment to maintaining an environment that is free from racism, ableism, hate, and emotional harm.
- Celebrating the black and indigenous origins of midwifery and their many contributions to the MN birthing community while simultaneously acknowledging and condemning the negative impact white supremacy has and continues to have on both midwifery and the communities we serve.
